Children’s Church
Over the years a close relationship has formed between Healing Wings and many of the kids in the area. Children of all ages attend the weekly Saturday Children’s Church meetings. We start with fun, fellowship and simply hang out or play games. Each meeting involves a praise and worship session where we all join in singing songs in the local language, Shangaan, as well as English.
This is followed by a short Bible message usually communicated through a drama, pictures or some other visually engaging method. Our aim is also to educate the kids about issues that affect them directly, such as the common diseases of the area: Cholera, AIDS, Tuberculosis etc. We also teach basic hygiene routines in order to prevent infection and spreading of these diseases.
A key element of Children’s Church is the learning of basic skills, such as colouring in, which they would otherwise never be exposed to. These, and other skills involving fine motor abilities are missing yet vitally important in the stimulation and correct development of the brain and are encouraged through fun activities such as beading and drawing.
